Life’s Reflection
Paul Frederick Richardson’ III, 69, passed away on May 12, 2019 at his home in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on February 5, 1950 in Kansas City, Kansas to Paul Frederick Richardson’ Jr. and Lena Mae LaVerne Holmes Richardson. Paul grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas in 1968. After high school, he attended college at Tarkio University on a scholarship in Tarkio, Missouri where he received a Degree in Business. He began to work for Social Security as a Claims Representative in Denver, Colorado. He worked there for thirty-two years before he retired in 2004.
He became the first African American to hold the position of Union Reginal President. He also was the first African American to be featured on the cover of Rockhurst College annual yearbook, “The Rock.”
Paul married Gayle Holliday in 1984 in Kansas City, Kansas.
He enjoyed listening to and collecting music which he shared with friends and family. He loved a challenging game of dominoes and pool. He was a dog lover and his greatest love was his daughter, Amy and his grandson Amari.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lena Mae LaVerne Richardson.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle of Kansas City, Kansas; his daughter, Amy Richardson (Omari Jones) of Centennial, Colorado; his siblings, Tim Richardson, of Kansas City, Kansas; Paula Ivy of Kansas City, Kansas; Cathy Anderson of Kansas City, Kansas and Mattie Sherman (C Tyrone) of Kansas City, Kansas; his grandson, Amari Jones of Centennial, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.
