Life Reflections
Minnie Lou Lemons was born January 19, 1935 in Murey County, Tennessee to the union of Seth and Mary Agnes (Thompson) Hendricks.
Minnie grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, she graduated from Pearl High School in Nashville, Tennessee. After high school she went on to attended Tennessee State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree. Minnie began to work for the Kansas City, Kansas District 500 as a Foods Teacher at Northeast Junior High School where she worked for two years, then she went to the Kansas City, Missouri School District from 1958 until she retired in 1997 after thirty-nine years of loyal service as a Home Economics Teacher, then as a Librarian. In between teaching and being a homemaker, she received her master’s Degree in education and Library Studies from Tennessee State University. Minnie was very involved in the Links, Brentwood Hills Association Treasurer. She was a member of MU Omega Chapter AKA Sorority, Inc.
In 1959 Minnie married Leon D. Lemons in Nashville, Tennessee, they were happily married for fifty-nine years and eleven months, to this union they adopted a beautiful daughter, Kimberly.
Minnie was a member of First Baptist Church since 1957, where she held varies positions and worked in many organizations with in the church, she loved the Usher Board, and she was also the head of the District Ten.
She enjoyed sewing, reading and working in her yard.
Minnie Lou Lemons 83 passed away on May 25, 2018 at Providence Place in Kansas City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Seth Hendricks and Mary Agnes Thompson Hendricks.
Minnie leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Leon D. Lemons of Kansas City, Kansas; their devoted adopted daughter, Kimberly R. Lemons of California.
