Margaret McKeithen Obituary

In Loving Memory

Margaret Ann McKeithen, 80 passed away on April 13, 2018 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri.  She was born on June 11, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas to Nelson Columbus Walker and Senora Steele Walker.  Margaret grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and she graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas in 1955.

Margaret decided early on in her life that she wanted to be a homemaker with a large family.  She was a loving and caring mother of nine children.  As her children begin to grow up, Margaret made the choice to begin working out side of the home.  She started her career as a Teacher’s Aide for the Pleasant Green Community School, where she remained for several years.  As time went on she began working for the Foster Grandparent Program until she retired.

Margaret joined Pleasant Green Baptist Church in 1957, where she remained and served the Lord for over sixty years.  She was a longtime and faithful member of the Choir; as a Sunday School Teacher’s Assistant; and a member of the Birth Month June Ministry.  Margaret decided to join Forest Grove Baptist Church, where her children attend.  She has always been passionate about God and looked forward to a high worship experience every time she walked through the sanctuary doors.  Margaret knew she wanted to join a ministry at Forest Grove and decided to become a member of the 7:00 A.M. Prayer Posse, up until her passing.  Margaret loved to read the bible, which she did in its entirety five times.  She solidly believed in two things God First; Family Second, and she tried to live her life by God words.  “WHEN SHE WENT TO CHURCH, SHE WANTED TO FEEL LIKE SHE WAS AT CHURCH!”

Any one who knew Margaret knows she loved to shop! Whether it be at the mall, off of T.V., or on-line, Shopping was her thang!!!  She also loved to eat at her favorite restaurant Red Lobster every chance she could get.  Margaret was a great lover of old Black and White Movies, especially Westerns.  She would sit and watch them all day and night.  Margaret’s biggest LOVE OF ALL was hanging with her family.  Whether it be going to the movies, road trips, family gatherings, or church, you would find Margaret with her children.

Our Mother, Margaret Ann McKeithen, was one of the kindest, liveliest, outgoing, vibrant, and loving person anone could know.  She had a big heart and it showed in every aspect of her life.  She was a people person, and loved to talk, and never met a stranger. We couldn’t have asked for a better Mother and it is OUR honor to be Her children.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Senora Walker; sister, Dorothy Mae Walker; daughters, Marie McKeithen; and Dorothy Jean McKeithen; son, Clinton (Hood) McKeithen, III; granddaughter, MaRonda L. Kennedy.
