Lillie Winston Anderson was born October 13, 1920 in Vance, Mississippi to Percy and Peggy Winston. She attended public school and college where she majored in elementary education in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She married the late Robert Lee Anderson Sr. and to this union four children were born. Lillie was a strong homemaker with sincere love for her children. She was always ready to share about them in her conversation. Her youngest son, Robert Jr., preceded her in death.
Lillie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She united with Olivet Institutional Baptist Church when her family moved to Kansas City, Kansas. She has been a 50+ year member of Olivet. She was a faithful active member in the Naomi Circle, Sunday school, and Bible Study. She was honored at Olivet with a Sybelline Chandler Black History Jewel Award for her dedication in working with children.
Lillie continued her love for working with children and received certification in early childhood care from Kansas State University. She opened a home daycare program in her home for many years. Her love for children was seen in the love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her angels brought joy to her life.
Lillie was also preceded in death by three sisters; Beaulah Perry, Lula Perry, and Laura Sims.

She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, John Winston (Mildred) of Kansas City, KS and Thomas A. Winston (Betty) of Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Yvonne Howell (Sherman) of Columbia, MD and Jacqueline Batie (Bernard) of Kansas City, KS; one son, Melvin Anderson (Jennifer) of Kansas City, KS; daughter-in-law, Cathy Anderson; two brother-in-laws, Henry Anderson of Kansas City, MO and Dr. Samuel Anderson (Joyce) of Virginia Beach, VA; four sister-in-laws, Bertha Anderson, Ruby Anderson, Lola Anderson of Kansas City, MO, and Delores Tunson of Clarksdale, MS; nine grandchildren, Terrence Anderson, Che’Counts, Demille Richardson, Candace Howell, Tanika Lloyd, Bernard L. Batie, Melva Sue Anderson, Richard Dumas, and Jerard Batie; nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many devoted relatives and friends.

The family suggests donations to be made in lieu of flowers in the name of Lillie Anderson  to Olivet Institutional Baptist Church Building Fund 2013 North 7th Street Kansas City, Kansas 66102 (913-281-0024)
