Reflection of Life

Jamezetta Johnson 62, passed away on August 10, 2017 at Johnsonville Homes in Kansas City, Kansas.  She was born August 16, 1954 in Merriam, Kansas to James and Marjorie (Criss) Farnsworth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Theodus Johnson, Sr.

Jamezetta grew up in Merriam, Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Mission North West High School in Shawnee, Kansas in 1972.  After high school, she began to work for South Western Bell Telephone Company as a Phone Operator where she worked for (2) years.

Jamezetta accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.  She later joined Pleasant Green Baptist Church (PGBC) and was an active member for over (35) years.

Jamezetta married Theodus Johnson, Sr. on October18, 1980 and their union remained strong for (27) years.  The young couple owned several small businesses including: Johnson’s Motel and Johnson’s Retail Liquor in Kansas City, Kansas.  Jamezetta performed the secretarial and accounting work for the businesses in addition to her role as the homemaker where she also cared for their two daughters.  In 2004, she assisted in the latest family business: Johnsonville Home with her husband and youngest daughter Tiffany.

Jamezettta found the time in her busy schedule to attend Friends University receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management and Leadership March 10, 2006.  She later received her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Friends University on June 2, 2007.  In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, crafts, and writing children’s stories.  She was a member of the Institute of Children’s Literature where she gained advanced learning skills to compete in writing contests and to one day, publish her own children’s novel.

Jamezetta served the Lord with gladness.  She also loved her church, (PGBC) and enjoyed fellowshipping with other members.  In July 8-18, 1985, she visited the Holy Land, with The United Prayer Movement.   She participated in the Joyous, Edifying, Women of Excellence Loving & Serving the Savior (JEWEL‘s) Ministry and went on several trips with them including a visit to the White House in July 2011.   She was a coordinator of the Junior Usher Board; active member and Secretary of the Discipleship Sunday School Class; active member of the August Birth Month Ministry; regularly attended and participated in the noon day Prayer/Bible Study class; active member of the Finance Committee; and always prompt for meetings, (never late) to every meeting over the years!

Jamezetta loved life and loved her family.  She always wanted to see the people around her prosper, especially her grandchildren.  Education was extremely important to her. 

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Anesha Joy Marks of Kansas City, Missouri; Tiffany Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Keenan Marks; Kierra Marks; Kyle Marks; Christian Marks; Kimora Marks; and Carlo Marks; Allyssa Johnson; Trynton Johnson; great grandchild, (Unborn) Kendrick Marks;  two older siblings, sister, Carolyn Brown of Grandview, Missouri; brother, James “Chuck” Farnsworth, Jr. of Mission, Kansas, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
