Harold Winston Pitchlyn 76 of Edwardsville, Kansas departed this life on April 4, 2019. He was born the son of Oceolia Milan-Tillman and Perry Lee Pitchlyn, Sr. on August 3, 1942. He was the third child born of their union with older brother, Lewis Pitchlyn preceding him in death. Harold was born with special needs, but with the help of the Kansas City, Kansas Public School System he was able to learn reading and writing. As a youth Harold was a fan of rock’n’Roll music by the likes of Chuck Berry, Lil Richard, and Fats Domino. He was especially moved by Christmas music and holiday traditions, like dinners with his extended family. Harold loved to eat! Once he told the neighborhood trash man pick-ups would be light at his household because, “We eat all our garbage.” Harold moved to a full-time care facility Butler’s Kitchen in Kansas City, Kansas in 1976. Shortly after he move to Golden Living in Edwardsville, Kansas, where he remained until his death. The nurses and staff at Golden Living referred to him as Uncle Harold. He was frequently visited by first cousins, Sylvia and Delores, who picked him up for outings, social visits, and meals. He spent many weekends with his surviving siblings going to family reunions and picnics.
Preceding him in death his parents; older brother, Lewis Pitchlyn; niece, Cynthia Hinton; and nephew, Freddie Jones.
Harold is survived by his brothers and sisters, Perry (Lollie) of Denton, Ohio; Vernon (Carol) of Kansas City, Kanas; Judy of Des Moines, Iowa; Regina of Raytown, Missouri; Ronnie of Kansas City, Missouri; Donna of Sacramento, California; Diane of Sacramento, California; Brenda (Mose Zell) of Raytown, Missouri; Carolyn (Anthony) of Kansas City, Missouri; David of Sacramento, California; Myles (Angela) of Kansas City, Kansas; Carla of Richmond, California; Carl, Jr. (Nancy) of Kansas City, Kansas; Ossie (Sylvester) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; WillaMae of Kansas City, Kansas; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
