Life’s Reflection

Of

Gabrella Omega Atkins

Gabrella was the last child born to Rev. George D. Atkins, Sr. and Nealie Bell Young Atkins whom preceded her in death.  She was given the name “Gabrella” because they thought she was going to be a boy.  The meaning for “Omega” means the end.  Her sister Lynda Atkins-Harris and brother Gregory D. Atkins, Sr., also preceded her in death. She accepted Christ early in life and was a member of New Light Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, Kansas before moving her membership to Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas.

Omega was educated in the Kansas City area where she attended grade school at Stanley Elementary and High School at J.C. Harmon.  She then attended Kansas City Kansas Community College majoring in Liberal Arts. To enhance her job skills, she most recently received course work completion at Donnelly College in Kansas City.

She was always so adventuress and would move to and live in various cities throughout the country without knowing anyone.  She believed that life should be lived to the fullest so why not experience different things in this wonderful world that God created.  Her last venture was to Columbus, Georgia and from there, in 2014, she decided to return to her native home of Kansas City. Kansas. She loved to tell stories about her adventures and would challenge anyone with knowing more about geographical trivia than what she knew.  Most family members and acquaintances lost this battle because she often became a self- made Wikipedia link.

Omega was the happiest when she was with family and friends.  She would drill you on the regular and would expect a full and thorough update of what was going on in your life.  She was very good with offering advice on how to handle your business and would offer contacts to help resolve your situation.  She would then contact you to simply say, “I told you so!”  That in itself was living life to the fullest for her.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn Brothers; George “Dennis” Atkins, Jr., Parkville, MO., Gerald D. Atkins, Sr., (Victoria), Kansas City, KS., Geri D. Atkins, Kansas City, KS., Sisters; Gwen Ridgnal, Kansas City, KS., Gisele Atkins, Shawnee, KS., Greta D. Scroggins (Tony), Kansas City, KS., Aunts; Kathleen Harvey, Kansas City, KS and Evonne Young, Aurora, CO.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many-many friends.
