Life Reflections
Eunice Mildred Cole was born May 3, 1927 to Herman Cole and Safronia Johnson-Cole in Kansas City, Kansas, where she remained a life-long resident. Eunice graduated from Sumner High School and went on to attend The Kansas City School of Nursing at General Hospital. She was then prepared for her 30+ year career of nursing at KU Medical Center then Providence.
She was a dedicated wife, married for 46 years to Sylvester Whitmire, Sr. to that union one son, was born Sylvester Whitmire, Jr.
Eunice was a volunteer Kansas Voter Registrar for many years dedicating her time to the cause of assuring our voices be heard and accounted for. She was an avid reader and gardener as well, raising beautiful flower gardens and bountiful vegetable gardens.
Eunice was also a phenomenal cook and will always be remembered for her peach cobbler, homemade rolls and greens. To know her was to be familiar with her soft voice and easy smile. All those that came into contact with her, came away feeling loved. Eunice will be missed by those that met her briefly and by those that had the pleasure of a long relationship with her.
She was proceeded in death by her Mother and Father; her brothers and sister, Walter, Percy, Leola, Chuttie, Otha, Luke, Tank, and Earnest.
Left to forever cherish her memory: her brother John Cole, her son Sylvester Whitmire, Jr. (Barbara), two grandchildren, Brent Whitmire (Olivia) and Jared Whitmire, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
