Remembering Erma

Erma Lee (Taylor) Moye was born December 15, 1950 to James Sidney and Minerva (Whitley) Taylor in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  She was the fifth oldest of 13 children.  She had eight brothers and four sisters. 

Erma attended Townsend Park High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and went on to earn her GED at Kansas City Kansas City Kansas Community College.  She graduated from Wright Business College and received a certificate in Medical Coding.

On August 15, 1970 Erma was united in marriage to Lloyd Moye in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  To.this union they had two children, Lemmion Deon Moye and Antionette LaVett Moye.  They remained married for 47 years until his death in 2017.

Erma was baptized at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  She attended Pleasant Green Church after moving to Kansas City before becoming a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church where she was an active member until her health failed.

Erma was employed as a Lab Tech/Phlebotomist at KU Medical Center for 32 years from 1976 to 2008.    

Erma enjoyed spending her time with family and friends, shopping, traveling, going out to eat, playing solitaire on her phone, keeping up with people on Facebook (which we often called her the channel 5 news because she was good at keeping everyone updated on what’s happening with the family) and watching her favorite shows; “Chopped” and “General Hospital”. Most of all Erma loved to laugh and have fun.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Moye; her parents, James S. and Minerva (Whitley) Taylor; three brothers, Nathaniel Sidney Taylor; Craig Steven Taylor; Glen Dale Taylor; two sisters, Herbye Lee (Taylor) Lewis; and Mary Elizabeth (Taylor) Baker.

She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Lemmion Deon Moye (Mickell) Kansas City, MO.; and Antionette LaVett Moye (Nathaniel) Kansas City, KS; five grandchildren, La’Raya Nickole Walker; Nathaniel James Walker, II both of  Kansas City, KS; Arian Marie Moye; and Ishmael Moye  both of Olathe, KS; LeAndra Zyel Moye of Kansas City, MO.; five brothers,  James L Taylor of Denver, CO; Verlee Taylor of Grandview, MO; Leonder Taylor of Omaha, NE; Thomson Daniel Taylor, Sr, of Kansas City, KS; and Daniel Lee Taylor, Sr.of Grandview, MO; two sisters, Alma Jean (Taylor) Davis (Fred) of Grandview, MO; and Jacquelyn M. (Taylor) Royal of Kansas City, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends.
