Life’s Reflection

Dorothy Ree Crawford Williams was born in Tillar Arkansas on January 8, 1924. She was the oldest daughter of Parthenia and Bennie Crawford who preceded her in death.

She became a Christian at an early age. She was united in marriage to Johnie Williams. She lived in several different cities due to being a military wife.  During her stay in New Orleans she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Morris Burrell from 1945-1961, where she was a member of the choir, Missions and Usher Board. While in New Orleans she worked as a beautician and was a master at her craft.  She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Then in 1961, she moved to Kansas City, Kansas and joined St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership Reverend D. H. Harris, where she was a member of the Usher Board, Missions and later The Mother Board. She worked at Guy’s/Lawson Brother’s Piggy Pop and Central Bag Factory.  She was a very loving, caring, giving, beautiful, sweet and amazing woman who met no stranger and enjoyed ceramics, upholstery, cooking, baking and being around her family and friends. Dorothy’s witty humor will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

On Wednesday August 23, 2017 at 7:32 P.M., God in his infinite wisdom, called her home from suffering pain to eternal rest.

She leaves to mourn her children: Gracie W. Melson of New Orleans, Louisiana, Freddie Grayson of Kansas City, Kansas, Robert L. Williams of Kansas City, Kansas, Adrienne W. Patterson (Geoffrey) of Shawnee, Kansas, Andrenell W. Johnson of Grandview, Missouri, Stevie L. Williams (LaVonne) of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Ronald, Kim and Bryan Williams of New Orleans, Louisiana, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. A sister Queenester “Doll Baby” Daniels and brother Jessie Bess (Choycie) of Kanas City, Kansas.
