Life’s Reflection
Denise Louise Long, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother, passed away on November 13, 2017 at the age of 58. Born to Louise (Mommy) Dyson and Ceaser James in Dayton, Ohio, Denise was a loving child who, at the tender age of ten, accepted Christ into her life and was baptized at Ethan Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dayton, Ohio. As a child she held such beauty that she was a Beauty Pageant Contestant, winning for five consecutive years. She was extremely smart and determined, graduating in 1976 from Colonel White High School at the age of 16. She loved the Lord and with any chance given to her, she would sing for the Lord. Denise loved everyone and never met a stranger. She remembered everyone she met and had the ability to make everyone feel special and cherished. She loved babies and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved children so much that she ran a daycare briefly but more than anything, Denise loved and adored her family.
Preceding her in death her father, Ceaser James; and her aunt, Alice Rudine Martin.
Denise is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, James Charles Long; mother, Louise (Mommy) Dyson; sons, Charles Dennis Long (Piaget); and Michael Edward Long (Jazmone); daughters, Vanya Davis (Charles); and Sherre Webb; sisters Walterine Keith Banks; and Sheila Hart; brothers, O’Brien Harris; Jamie Harris; Charles Harris; and Steve Harris; a special stepsister, Shirley (Peaches) Dyson; brother-in-law, Thomas Henderson (Erma Henderson); nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
