Homegoing Celebration Of
Christa Kaye Brooks Blake
Ms. Christa was born during the spirit of Christmas time on December 22, 1958 at Douglas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas to William T. (Billie) Brooks, Sr. and Juanita Harvey Brooks.
She attended public schools in Kansas City, Kansas where she first met as a friend Richard Blake, her future husband. Richard and Christa took they’re friendship from the 1970’s thru four decades while attending from Northwest Junior High School, she was in the 7th grade, he was in the 9th grade. (Richard and Christa kept their dating a secret from their families due to their age difference) They remain friends all during their high school days at Wyandotte. After Christa graduated from Wyandotte High School with the class of 1976, she attended Kansas City Community College, not knowing Richard had returned from the Navy and was also taking class at the College.
In the 1980 Ms. Christa married Steve Riggins and a child was born, her first love David Brooks. Ms. Christa worked for the 1st National Bank on 9th and Baltimore after several merger, (that is now a Public Library) change they’re name to Bank of American for 30 years. where she was awarded by certificate the Ten-Key champion in her work section. Christa loved her, co-workers, and they loved her. Little did either Ms. Christa or Richard knew the other worked at the same bank at the same time but different shifts.
In the 1990’s Ms. Christa divorced after being separated from her husband for a while. After attending Richard’s mothers’ funeral, the couple reconnected and took their friendship, (it was love at first sight all over again), and married June 6, 1992 and were happily married for 26 years until death do us part. Christa had a big heart, a pretty smile, beautiful eyes, she was an outstanding mother, smart and good looking, a fine Christian. Christa held the last title of Usher Board Treasurer. Christa Kaye Blake if you met her, you instantly knew one of the kindest, sweetest, person you could meet. She loved kids, all the kids loved her, she loved her entire family, from the tip all the way thru, with no exceptions. March of 2018 thru March of 2019 God had his way when the doctors said, without chemo and radiation she would not make it past September of 2018, not only did she surpass all they predicted, she is now in heaven and we are celebrating her homegoing as she left this earth peacefully with God from above.
