Reflections of Life
Charles Leroy Spratt was born on November 15, 1925 in Clarksville, Texas to Mr. Paul L. Davis Sr. and Ms. Aline Kahey. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country for 10 years. He was injured during his tour of duty and received an honorable discharge in 1959.
Charles dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. He was a member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
During the late 1950s, he relocated to Kansas City, Kansas. Charles later worked for BFI, a waste management company, as a skilled mechanic until he retired. He also operated a towing and hauling service as a self-made entrepreneur. His passion was being able to help others in the community by providing affordable automotive repairs. He used his trade and skills to give back and pay it forward to anyone in need.
Charles had an affinity for ice cream, donuts and watching old western and cowboy movies.
His life was further enriched when he met Eva Mae Bursey. They married on July 20, 1969 and celebrated their blessed union for 51 years. She was the love of his life.
He peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 25, 2019.
Charles was proceeded in death by both parents; his stepfather, Leroy Spratt; his wife, Eva Spratt; four daughters, Mary A. Collins, Eddie Mae Pointer, Shirley Moore and Alline Lee Matthews; one son, Charles Spratt Jr.; two sisters, Mary Jones and Mattie Davis-Edwards; three brothers, Paul L. Davis Jr., Henry L.
