Life’s Reflection
Charles Ray Avery 62 passed away on March 28, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. at the V. A. Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on December 7, 1955 in Eldorado, Arkansas to Bobby Joe Avery and W. Maxine Hinson Avery.
Charles loved the Lord and made him his Savior, at the age of ten, joining Calvary Baptist Church and later in life he joined New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church.
Charles received his education in Kansas City, Kansas, graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1973. Then he joined the United States Navy in 1975 for four years. While living in Seattle, Washington Charles received his AA from Seattle Central Junior College. Then he attended the University of Washington in Seattle, earning a B.S. in English, going on to receives Master of Fine Art (MFA) degree.
While making Seattle his home, he met and married Kelly Mark in 1981. Later the marriage was dissolved, and no children were born to the union.
Charles worked for Seattle First Bank for many many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Avery; grandparents, John L. Hinson and Orine Hinson; Thomas Avery and Bessie Ford Avery.
Charles leave to cherish his memory his mother, Maxine Avery-Tyson (Ray Tyson); sister, Mischon Arrington; stepfather, Johnnie McNeal; stepsisters, Tony Tyson; Regina and Rhonda McNeal; stepbrothers, Michael; Ivory; Ivan; and Ray, Jr. Tyson; and Terrol McNeal; four uncles, Ralph; Walter; Roger; and Bruce Hinson; five aunts, Willie B. Hamiton; Patience O’Hara; and Lorraine Avery; special friends, David Johnson; Wendell Rutherford; and host of other relatives and friends.
