All About Carla

Carla Marie Williams was born on August 8, 1957 to Thelma Delores (Wilson) Williams and Emmett Webster Williams, Jr. in Kansas City, Kansas.  Carla was the fifth of seven children.

Carla grew up in Rosedale, Kansas.  Carla was baptized at an early age at Mount Carmel Baptist Church under Rev. Lloyd.  Carla received her formal education in Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, graduating from Harmon High School in 1975.

In 1975, Carla met William S. Smith, Jr., and the two were joined in Holy Matrimony on February 11, 1978.  To this union four children were born.  Although their marriage dissolved, Carla and William were later reunited and remained sweetheart until her death.

Carla was a devoted employee of Kellogg’s Corporation, where she was employed for 38 plus years.  Carla served many years on the RWDSU Local 184-L Central States Council Union Board as Secretary/Treasurer and Bookkeeper.

Carla loved her family dearly and was surrounded by her family until her death February 8, 2018. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Emmett W. (Duke) Williams, III.

Carla is survived by her four children, Tiffani Officer (Thomas); Kendra Simmons (Lester); Kierstin Martin (Romarta) and William S. Smith, III; her beloved, William S. Smith, Jr.; her grandchildren, Taylor; Dominique; Anthony; Triston; Romarta, Jr.; Lester, III; Nevach; Maliyah; Landon; and Nikiyah; one great grandson, Eastin;  five siblings, Cheryl Williams; Glennetta James (Lee); Reginald Williams (Linda); Kim Dyer; and Gina Howard (Roy); and a host of cousins nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
