Life’s Reflection
Artessa “Gail” McDaniel, 61, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018, KAW River Care and Rehabilitation Center in Edwardsville, Kansas. She was born on August 20, 1957 in Cairo, Illinois to Artis and Billie June (Garred) Williams and was the 3rd of 5 girls.
Artessa grew up in Seaside, California. She graduated from Monterey High School in Monterey, California in 1975. After high school she worked in Silicon Valley in San Jose, California and later studied to become a nurse. She later married Timothy McDaniel.
Artessa moved to Kansas City after the passing of her mother in 1996 to be closer to family. She was a member of the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas and later attended Christian Fellowship Church, Kansas City, Kansas.
Gail as she was lovingly referred to in her family; was a fun-loving, giving and caring person. She loved music, to sing and dance and enjoyed a good meal any day. When she was able to she enjoyed shopping for jewelry and beautiful clothing. She did not have children of her own, but she poured her love on all of her nieces and nephews and their children.
Artessa was preceded in death by her grandmother Amanda Daggs, her mother Billie June Loman, her nephew Curtis Thurman and niece LaKesha McFarland.
Artessa is survived by her father Artis Williams, Jr. of Fresno, California, her sisters Amanda Roland Brown of Overland Park, Kansas, LaWanda Allen (LeArtis) of Columbus, Georgia, Alesia Williams (Kenneth) of Kansas City, Kansas, LaVonne Johnson (Charles) of Fresno, California, 3 nieces, 7 nephews, 29 great nieces and nephews and 9 great-great nieces and nephews.
