Life’s Reflection

Albert Curtis Meeks, Jr. was born January 2, 1981 to Albert, Sr. and Alice (Martin) Meeks. Albert, Jr. grew up in the Kansas City, Kansas area, attending school in the Kansas City Kansas School  District, where he excelled in basketball at Coronado Middle School, and graduating from Schlagle High School.  Albert was an avid sports person loved basketball. He was a leader, always co-captain from Coronado Middle School to the Schlagle Stallions. After high school Albert, graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a Bachelor Degree in Fashion Marketing. He worked for Kane Is Able as a forklift driver, and at City Gear as a salesperson. He took pride in his work.

He loved his Chevy’s, he enjoyed fixing them up, and his Jordan Tennis shoes, (which he bought his nephew TJ several pair to match his). He loved his family, and loved meeting and hanging out with family that he had just met from out of state. Most of all he loved hanging out with his Dad! “I remember, I took him fishing one time. He was busy throwing rocks, so I baited the hook, and caught a blue gill, I said, son I’m tired of holing the pole, you hold it, after a while he felt pole tug a little. He said, daddy I got one! I said reel him in son, it might of weighed 2oz. and three inches in length, but when he got back to his friends his arms as long as they were, weren’t long enough when he told the story of how big the fish was.  At that moment, I didn’t know that he was a real fisherman until he told the story to his friends”.

Albert Curtis Meeks, Jr.  passed away on Sunday April 16, 2017 leaving to cherish his memory his parents, Albert, Sr. and Alice Meeks; three sisters, Carissa Meeks; Desiree Meeks; and Jerra Williams; three nieces, Anaya Taylor; Ameia Taylor; and Ta’Raji Byers; one nephew, Antonio Steen (known as TJ); a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
