Ruthie Lee was 86 years old, born July 14, 1930 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Guss Smith and Ophelia (Trice) Smith. She was educated in Mt. Pleasant School a one class room school in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. On October 14, 1946, she united in marriage with Freddie Lee, they were married for 70 years.  To this union 10 children were born 7 boys and 3 girls.

Ruthie was employed at Bethany Hospital, Osteopathic Hospital, and K U Medical Center as a Head Cook for over 40 years.  She also worked as a Home Health Care provider for the Hockaday family for several years.  She was a very punctual hard worker throughout her life time. 

Ruthie loved her beloved church Guiding Star Missionary Baptist Church and her pastor David Lee.  She served as the President of the Mother’s Board, and she was faithful with her tithes, and a very outstanding cook. She did her best touching many lives, with her generosity and helping in a loving way.  Her favorite song was “Yes God Is Real” and her favorite scripture was Psalm 121.

Preceding Mother Ruthie Lee in death 3 sons, Sylvester Lee; O’Neal Lee; and Maurice Lee; brothers, Jessie Smith; Forest Smith; and Willie Smith; sister, Katie Mansker.

Left to cherish her memories, her devoted husband, Freddie Lee; her children, Freddie Mae McDaniel (Nathaniel); Gloria Mayfield (James); Nathaniel Lee; Melvin Lee (Monica); Reverend David Lee (LaShonda); Avenia Marie Ford (Pastor Andrew Ford); and Steven Curtis Lee; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; (that is a 6 generation of a loving family); one sister, Annie Mae Hood of Chicago, Illinois; a host of nieces, nephews, many other family and friends.
