Life’s Reflection

Robert (Bob) Henry Walker began this life on October18, 1937.  He departed this life on April 18, 2017 at his home.  He was the youngest of four children born to James A. and Fannie M. Walker. His parents and all his siblings preceded him in death.

Robert was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas public schools attending Dunbar Elementary, Northeast Junior High and Sumner High School.  He furthered some of his education at the University of Kansas.  He served as a member of the National Guard for 8 years.

Robert began working at the age of 10, shining shoes. He held several other positions throughout his career, which included working in the Pharmacy at KU Medical Center, waiting tables at the Kansas City Country Club.  He ended his career working at Kansas City Power & Light Company for 32 years, retiring in May of 1994 as a Maintenance Foreman.

He met and married the love of his life Judy, on June 3, 1961.  They were married for 48 years, from this union two daughters were born.

Robert’s Christian walk with the Lord began at an early age.  He started his Christian journey at Trinity A.M. E. in Kansas City, Kansas, he then moved to St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Missouri to be with his wife, later he moved his membership to Metropolitan Baptist Temple in Kansas City, Kansas while he was there he was ordained as served as a Deacon for many years, he was a member of the male chorus and an avid culinary worker, the last several years of his life he spent, being a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.  Robert truly was a man of God who loved the Lord and wasn’t ashamed to share his love of God or the word of God with anyone.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Alicia Roberts (Danny) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Robin Parks (Rodney) of the home in Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Danielle Robert; Courtney Parks; Sydney Roberts; Daniel Joshua Roberts; and Brandon Green; sister-in-law, Pamela Waiolena of Arizona; Willard W. Smith, Jr. (Diane) of Georgia; one special Godchild Candice Danielle Holland of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
