He relocated from Arkansas to Kansas City, KS some years later. He worked for Wilson’s Packing House in Kansas City, KS and retired after 30 plus years. Due to his strong nature, he continued working well into age at St. Joseph Hospital in Leavenworth, KS.
He served faithfully and worshiped at his beloved church, Guiding Star Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend David Lee, Senior Pastor. He was a strong supporter of the ministry in every aspect and was considered “The First Responder,” as he was the first to commit in giving to ensure the success of the program at hand. His favorite pass time was driving to Edwardsville, KS early in the mornings to enjoy coffee with his friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Three daughters: Peggy Cowley (Joe), Olathe, KS; Gwendolyn Scott (Ben), Topeka, KS; Phyllis Mitchell (Louis), Chicago, IL; and Two sons: Robert Lee, Jr., Topeka, KS; Mike Lee (Gayle), Kansas City, KS.
