Life’s Reflections

Maxine Austin was born on March 23, 1934 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to the parents, Robert Lee Biglow and Mary Bee (Smith) Biglow.

She became a Christian at an early age.  In her adulthood, she later moved from Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Chicago, Illinois, where she met her first husband, Thomas Byrd.  Afterwards she moved to Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

She later was employed at General Motors at Delco Remy, later transferred to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she retired.  She returned back to Kansas City, Missouri.  Her hobby was picking flowers, gardening and taking short walks at the park with her children.

She was known by her clarity of saying what she said, and what she meant is what she said.  Her daughter, Angela D. Frye promised her mother Maxine.  Before she became ill, that she would be there for her until she takes her last breath, this awesome journey was fulfilled on February 5, 2017.

Angel husband Anthony was there also assisting his mother-in-law, until the very end at Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was a member of the Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C… Her pastor Bishop Daniel M. Jordan.  She had four daughters, the late Debra Jones who preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory Sharon Miller, LaDonna Sullivan, and Angela Frye and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I thank God, he chose me and with his anointing for this awesome appointment caring for my mother.  I always promised my mom before she became ill that I would be there for her til her last breath or mine. This journey has come to an end.  It has been a learning experience, funny, sad, exciting, interesting, she was amazing when she would distract me, to hide her medication and I find it when I do laundry. Everyone who really knew Maxine knew that she meant what she said, and said what she meant. I will continue my mother’s legacy of success.

“She is a Jewel”
