Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul;

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for thou art with me;

Thy rod and they staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;

Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Mattie Lee Hattley

Mattie Lee (Williams) Hattley passed away on August 17, 2016, at her home, in Kansas City Kansas.  Mattie was born April 10, 1930 in Magnolia Arkansas to Joe Williams and Jewell Goosby.  Both parents, a sister, a brother, her only nephew and one daughter preceded her in death.

Mattie grew up in Magnolia Arkansas and graduated from Columbia County High School in Magnolia Arkansas.  She married Herbert Charles (A.C.) Hattley, (deceased) June 4, 1949.  They were happily married for 49 years.  She confessed Christ at an early age and had an unwavering faith in God.  She worshiped for over 40 years beside her husband (Rev. A.C. Hattley) at Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C. B. Bailey (deceased).

Mattie worked for Tuxedo Grill (head cook) and Providence St. Margaret Hospital as a dietitian.  She worked for the Bayer Corporation in the pharmaceutical lab until she retired. A consummate mother and homemaker, Mattie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She never let anyone go hungry, she fed everyone! She was a sports fan and enjoyed watching and attending baseball, football and basketball games. One of her favorites past times was watching her children roller skate.  She enjoyed this so much that every year in April, a skating party was held to celebrate her birthday.  Her favorite color was RED.

After her husband’s death, Mattie joined Greater Pentecostal   Temple and continued to worship the Lord with her children.   She lived a great life for 86 years on this earth with kindness in her heart.  To her children, she was the prefect mother, giving attention to all her children.  Mattie talked to her children daily and continued to instill her godly beliefs in each one of them.

She lives to mourn: nine children, Jerry, Shirley, Robert, Jimmie, Kathyrene, Jeffary, Michellea, Brenda and Karen; grandchildren: Jamisha, Latrice, Ronnie, Rhonda, Bridgette (Brian), Shonya,      Alvertis, Robrina, Angie (Stephon), Jenise, Lovell, Michael, Octavia (Keilyn), Jamie, Iyona, Olivia, DaZhanae’, and Briana and a host of Great-great grandchildren relatives and friends.
