Life’s Reflections

Lillian Venerable McCord was born on September 15, 1920 in Edwardsville, Kansas.

Her parents were Roy and Pearl Venerable, she was the oldest of six children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of many years Rev. Beryl McCord; a daughter Wanda; her parents, 2 brothers, Leroy and Curtis, and a sister Helen Berry.

She was educated in the Edwardsville Kansas school system, where she graduated as Class Valedictorian.  After graduating from high school she gained employment in the garment industry as a master seamstress.  After retirement each day you could find her at Vernon Center as a volunteer teaching sewing and knitting.

She accepted Christ at an early age.  She joined the Eighth Street Baptist Church in 1942 where she remained and served faithfully until she was called home.  She served in numerous ministries of the church.  Where she has left a long legacy to include her work as a staffer for National Baptist Convention-USA.

She leaves to mourn her passing, a sister, Arlene Long; a brother, Thomas Venerable both of Kansas City, Kansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and acquaintances.
