Life’s Reflections

Lewanna Harris was born in Kansas City, Kansas on April 1, 1934 to Vinita Wallace Snedaker and Morris Marion.

She attended Kansas City, Kansas schools,  Hawthorne Elementary, Northeast Jr. High School and Sumner High School “Class of 1952”.

She married George D. Harris III, November 8, 1949.  To this union six children were born.

Lewanna was well liked  and loved by so many people.  She was affectionately called “Aunt Wanna” by her many nieces and nephews and “Mom” by so many others.  She loved family functions and being surrounded by her family.  She found joy in capturing life moments by creating  picture collages and also created picture albums for all of her children, grandchildren, and some of her great grandchildren.  She was an active member of the Sumner “Class of  1952” and served as Secretary/Treasurer for well over 30 plus years.

Lewanna was preceded in death by her husband George D. Harris III; her mother Vinita Wallace Snedaker, stepfather, Charles Snedaker, paternal father, Morris Marion; brother, Mark Marion, brother-in-law, James Harris, sister-in-laws; Vivian McIntosh, Clotees Sowell and Piccola Elliott all whom she so dearly loved.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories; three sons, Gregory Harris, (Cheryl), George Harris IV and James Harris (Evelyn); three daughters, Venita Kyle (Donald), Vickie Harris and Michelle Union (Reginald) all of Kansas City, Kansas.  She also leaves two sisters, Debra Calloway (Derrick) and Lisa Palma of Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren that were raised in the home, Warren Harris, Tiffany Ellison (Eric) and Joya Harris, all of Kansas City, Kansas; 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Floyd Elliott of Kansas City, Missouri and one sister-in-law, Clemmie Ward of Landover, Maryland; one Aunt Gloria Walker of Kansas City, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
