Words of Reflection

Lesley Vernell Williams (Peanut) was born February 25, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents, Johnnie E. Williams and Lillie M. Williams.  He resided in Olathe, Kansas for 30 years and he gave the Holiday Inn 15 years of service as a Maintenance Engineer.  Lesley was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas Public School System.

Lesley was a devoted husband, father and friend.  He met the love of his life, Sonya Bruce, 30 years ago and united in marriage on October 19, 2013.

Lesley lived his life with dignity, integrity, respect, and with an unconditional love for all who knew him.  He laid a strong foundation for his three sons to live by.  A true hard-working man who took good care of his family.  His love for basketball got him his nick name “Peanuts” but his most favorite sport was football.  His team was the Denver Broncos.  Lesley loved to listen to old school music, blues and jazz.  “So Amazing” by Luther Vandross was one of his most favorite songs.  He loved spending quality time with his grandchildren, Aiden, William, and Aaron, Jr.

He was, also known in the family as the family mechanic, he taught his nephews a lot about working on cars.

Lesley accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his Life as his Lord and Savior in March 1988 at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Olathe, Kansas with Rev. Jethro Syrus.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie E. Williams, Jr.; two grandmothers, Louise Mitchell and Armender Williams; one auntie, Essie D. Mercy; and one uncle, Jory “Shug” Williams.

Leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Sonya Bruce Williams; three sons, Azar Bruce; Aaron Williams; and Landon Thomas; his mother, Lillie M. Williams; three sisters, Vivian S. Williams; Yulanda E. Williams; and Harriett L. Williams all from Kansas City, Kansas; one brother, Rodney Williams of Omaha, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Aiden; Williams; Aaron, Jr.; and Charmayne; a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousin, aunties, uncles and friends.
