Born to the late Leroy D. Washington Sr. and Joanne (Cookie) Washington, Leroy David Washington Jr was born in Kansas City, Kansas on July 25, 1955. As a child, he was affectionately known as “Pistol” by his family. Leroy was also known for his infectious smile and was an avid lover of people.
Throughout his childhood and young adult life; he was a talented sportsman specializing in Baseball, Basketball and Football. He received his GED in the armed forces and upon completion of his 4-years of service; another six years were served in the Army Reserves.
As a civilian, Leroy began working for Certain Teed Fiberglass after several years, but deep in his heart the open road was his passion and he decided to embark on the adventure and became a truck driver.
On Tuesday, December 27, 2016, Leroy passed away while behind the wheel of his 18-wheeler, in Paducah, Kentucky.
Leroy was preceded in death by his father, Leroy D. Washington, Sr; Daddy, Robert A. Fletcher; brother, Alvin Goodwin; and his Aunt, Dianne Fletcher-Richardson.
Leroy is survived by his mother, Joanne (Cookie) Fletcher of Plano, Texas; Denise Fink his daughter, of Germany; Darren Marks his son, of Kansas City; his sister’s, Wanda Parker of Aurora, Colorado; and Robin Fletcher-Rollins of Plano, Texas; And his two aunt’s, Norma Robinson of Reno, Nevada; and Mary Fletcher Draffen of Kansas City, Missouri; and a host of grand-children, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
