LaVonne Cook was born January 15, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas to Elmer Cook and Bessie Lawson Trammel. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Paradise Baptist Church; and was a member at Higher Dimension Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
She went to school at Dunbar North, and Hawthorne Elementary Schools, Northeast Junior High School and Sumner High School graduating in the Class of 1974. She began her employment at KU Medical Center and she worked at Western Missouri Mental Health Center for 17 years. She ended her career as a Home Health Aide in 2010.
She married Eldridge Taylor, Jr. in 1978 and to this union 3 children were born. They remained VERY best friends after the marriage was dissolved. LaVonne was very well known in Chelsea Plaza Apartments. She was a very festive person and loved to decorate, she loved to shop, she loved music and liked writing poems.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer L. Cook and Bessie Mae Trammel; her brother Curtis Hawkins; and her grandson, Michael Elijah Preston Bailey.
Her Memory will forever live on through her children, Octavia Ford; LaRhon Cook; Eldridge Taylor, III; Ebony Davis (Chris); and Erika Taylor; her grandchildren, MyTalisha “Monnie”; Israel; Kaleb; Nidiya; LaRhon, Jr.; Keiron; Daniel; Eldriana; Essence; Aviana; Aviance; Julius “Lil Man”; Jaedan; Justin; Kah Miah; Brejhe’; Najhea; and Karter; four (4) great grandchildren, Olivia; Yahni; Danni; and E’Mahni; her siblings, Joyce Stuckey; Yvonne Beatty; Francine Morgan (Charles); her twin LaVelle Battles (Michael); Sandra Kitchen; LaTanya Cook; and Luvenia Cook; two special nieces Tanya Garner “Pudda”; and Al’Kiba Cook “KibaAnn”; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
