Kathy Lewis Crawford

Kathy Lewis Crawford was the oldest of two children born to Evans and Hortense Hobson on November 9, 1952.  She was preceded in death by her father, mother and sister Reba Hobson.

Kathy received her education at Douglas Elementary, Northeast Junior High School, and in 1970 graduated from Sumner High School.  She was also a 2003 graduate of Donnelly College with an AAS Degree in Early Childhood Development.

Having been reared in a strong Christian family, Kathy accepted Christ at the age of 9 at Eight Street Baptist Church, after 10 years she became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for 43 years.  She served 10 years as a Toddler and Vacation Bible School teacher.  She was also a member of the Courtesy Guild.

Whenever there was a time for any seamstress work Kathy was there.  She coached a little league softball team called K.C. All Stars for 3 years.  She kept score for adult softball league for Kansas City, Kansas Parks and Recreation.  Kathy was in charge of the Klamm Park League for over 15 years.  She was also a member of the Ladies in Red since 2008.

Kathy was employed for Farmers Insurance Group for 20 years until they downsized.  After that for 3- years she was employed at Kiddie Kollege and was a Preschool teacher of 3-year old’s.  Also, employed as a Manager/Bartender at the Firelight Lounge for 13 years where Martase Nichols was the owner.  In 2003 she became a Leasing Agent/Asst. Manager for the Aimo and Dalmark Group.  In 2009 she was employed at Dimples & Diapers Early Learning Center as a teacher, where Rhonda Smith was the owner.

Kathy departed this life on March 10, 2017 at 4:30 a.m. Friday morning.

She leaves to cherish her memories Keith Lewis, Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas, Kevin Lewis (Tenaya) of Kansas City, Missouri, and daughter Chyla Crawford, Kansas City, Kansas; 8 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.  Special people; Rhonda Hall Smith, Noreen Maxwell, Phyllis Howard.
