Precious Memories Of

Joseph Anderson

"He Loved to Talk"

Joseph Anderson was born on June 16, 1936 in Montgomery, Alabama to Reverend Leo and Katie Anderson.

Joseph grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He joined the army and received a certificate in completing Jungle Warfare Training in 1955 and served 4 years. He served in 112, 10 Heavy Weapons and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1959, achieving the rank of SP-3.

Joseph began work for Midland Lithographic as a Paper Inspector where he worked for many years and later retired.

Joseph was baptized early in life and in April of 2013 he joined the “The Burning Bush Ministry” U.O.F.W.C., under the leadership of Pastor Ralph Diamond. Joe loved to watch T.D. Jakes and Joel Olsteen on T.V. His Motto in life was “I will not be a part of the devil’s team, but God and Jesus Christ” team. He thought very highly of his Pastor Ralph Diamond.

Joe loved his daughters, nieces and nephews. He also loved taking his step grandchildren and step great-grandchild to McDonald’s and Walmart, he would say “I don’t have my children here so I’ll take my wife’s children and grandchildren”. At times his Cadillac would be running over with his step grandchildren. He would take them to Benton Market and tell them to get what they wanted, which was candies, pickles, potato chips and soda pop. Joe enjoyed watching the Discovery Channel and Bible tapes, he thought it was pretty bad that RoShawn knew more about the Bible than him. He would get in his office and read the bible. He loved LaJa’Ti-RoSch gospel singing group as he helped financed them with their first gospel CD and tape single.

Joe loved being around friends especially those that liked to listen to him talk as he visited with them for hours. He always had kind things to say about his friends and people, to me his wife. Another thing Joe would do when he went to get groceries, at times he would end up taking elderly people home.

Joseph Anderson, 79, passed away on May 25, 2016 in Kansas City, Kansas.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Leo and Katie Anderson; one daughter, Michelle Colleen (MeMe) Boyd-Pace, his three sisters, Mary Anderson Maddox; Martha Anderson Patterson; and Mamie Anderson; two brothers, David Anderson; and Henry Anderson; three nieces; Idella M Maddox, Doris Maddox and Helen Maddox Lee.
