Life’s Reflection

 

John R. Yates was born May 15, 1915 at home to Annie Carmichael Carson Yates and John Yates, Sr.  He was the youngest of 15 siblings.  They all preceded him death. 

John attended W.W. Yates elementary School in Kansas City, Missouri, The family moved to Kansas City, Kansas when John was eight years old, and he finished his education at Douglas Elementary School, Northeast Junior High School, graduating from Sumner High School.

 John met and married Miriam Ethel Frazier in 1936, and from their marriage four wonderful children were born. 

John was a Chauffeur for families in the greater Kansas City Area, and also work in their homes. He worked for The Hall’s Department Store, Hallmark Cards, Inc., John worked at Lake City during the War, the Railroad, and the Cook Paint Company until he retired in 1980. Then worked part time for Guarantee Abstract Company (where each of his children helped him worked after school), which help them have his work ethics.

John and his wife Miriam were members of Paseo Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri (The church where they were married in 1936).  And later became member of First Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas in 1952. John was a Deacon of the Church for 48 years.

His wife, Miriam preceded him in death in 1984; sons, John Robert Yates, III; and Donald Alfred Yates also preceded him in death.

John Robert Yates, Jr. transitioned from this life on September 27, 2015.

John is survived by son, Jerald Allen Yates (Vernetta); daughter, Janet M. Carter (Terry); both of Kansas City, Missouri; grandsons, Darryl Carter (Molly) of Kansas City, Missouri; John Robert Yates, IV of Austin, Texas;  Shawn Carter; and Jerald Allen Yates, Jr. both of Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughters, Pamela D. Lark (Jarral) of Oklahoma City; tiffany Chance (John) of Hawaii; Crystal Richardson (Frank) of Kansas City, Missouri; Heather Williams of Lawrence, Kansas; a host of great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; friends and loved ones.
