Jimmie loved family. He was married to the love of his life, Bernice for 42 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and carpentry. He was an avid reader of the bible. He was a collector of coins, old money, and an array of comic books. He introduced his oldest grandson to Anime, a style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children, over 20 years ago. He would rise for work before sunrise without an alarm clock, and when Bernice, April, and Erick, heard the bathroom door open, they knew it was time to start their day. Jimmie was a talented cook, he would smoke briskets and ribs. He also loved smothered pork chops and savory spicy greens. Jimmie was an entrepreneur for over 20 years, establishing the Jackson and Son’s Lawn Service business. Additionally, he had a carpentry business, where he would collect discarded wood, and create and design projects for everyone in the city, even having a vendor space at Granny’s Attic. Jimmie assisted with raising nieces, nephews, and many other children. He enjoyed touring the metropolitan area, and assisting others in their pursuit of employment and doctor’s visits. If you needed a ride to your job, he didn’t hesitate to get you there. He believed in a person working and if they needed help, he was there to do it.
