Reflections of Life

Jennifer Sue Singleton was born on June 28, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas to Henry Caldwell and Lucille Singleton.  She returned to her heavenly home on October 7, 2016.  Jennifer attended Dunbar North Elementary, Northeast Junior High School, Sumner High School in Kansas City, KS and Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO.  At an early age Jennifer accepted Christ as her Savior and Lord and committed to worshipping and was dedicated to serving faithfully at Grant Chapel A.M.E Church of Kansas City, Kansas.  As a lifelong member Jennifer served on numerous church committees.

On October 23, 1973 Jennifer wed Melvin W. Anderson and they nurtured a union of love and devotion that spanned over 45 years.  Together they raised two children, a son Richard Wayne Dumas and a daughter Melva Sue Anderson.  They loved and cherished them dearly.  She also had one grandson Rickeem Dumas and a granddaughter Emontee Sage.

Jennifer was a career federal employee.  She worked at the Internal Revenue Service and the Environmental Protection Agency.  During her career at the Environmental Protection Agency she was instrumental in recruiting new hires, implementing community development programs and conducted environmental outreach for schools throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.  Jennifer was an outstanding community leader.  She believed in equality and strived helping others to achieve their goals.  She received several national and regional awards during her years of service.  She retired from Environmental Protection Agency after over 40 years of federal service.

Jennifer was a peaceful, creative, friendly and very talented woman.  Her loving and humorous personality allowed her to have a connection with everyone that she met.  She had a way of making everyone feel special by devoting her love and compassion.  Jennifer possessed a variety of skills she was a barber, beautician, jewelry designer and mastered any tasks that she committed herself to.  She loved to cook and bake.  Her specialty was her delicious sweet potato pies.  She had a gift for interior design, maintaining a beautiful home and immaculate yard.  She always decorated her home according to the seasons.  Despite becoming ill in 2012, Jennifer continues to spread love, serenity, wisdom and generosity to all of her family, friends, and colleagues.  She was a woman of faith and was truly beautiful inside and out.
