Life’s Reflection

Deacon James Clyde Montgomery, Jr.

James C. Montgomery, Jr. was born July 3, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio to James C. Montgomery, Sr. and Geraldine (Cox) Montgomery.  He was the oldest of five children.

He moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio at an early age, where he attended both elementary and high school.  He later joined the United States Air Force.  He served at several airbases here in the United States and his last airbase was in the state of Missouri.  James worked on fighter jets. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force he later met and married Marjorie Brown. To this union one son was born.  This marriage was later dissolved.

James was employed by the City of Kansas City, Missouri Water and Sewage Treatment Plant and The Kansas City, Missouri Board of Education as a plaster and painter.  One day James decided to go into business for himself, so he met and befriended a man by the name of Bill Steven, who was in the janitorial business.  He worked with Bill until he decided to start his own company, “The Exquisite Building Maintenance”.  In the mid to late 1990’s the name of the company change to “Dirt Free Building Maintenance” DBA.

After being a single man for almost 20 years, he met and married the love of his life Sapora M. Turner.  They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on September 2, 2015.

James was preceded in death by parents, James C. Montgomery, Sr. and Geraldine (Cox) Montgomery Applin; one sister, Rosline Montgomery; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his favorite aunt Delores Smith.

James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sapora (Turner) Montgomery; two sons, Stanley Montgomery, of Cleveland, Ohio; Sean Montgomery (Angela), of Cleveland, Ohio; four brothers, Michael Montgomery; Greg Montgomery; David Montgomery; and Howard Montgomery; one sister, Sandy Montgomery; all of Cleveland, Ohio; three stepsons, Sean Turner; Joey Radford; and Ernie Radford; all of Kansas City, Kansas; stepdaughter, Rochell Lockhart of Chicago, Illinois; a special grandson he helped to raise, Shamar Alexander Turner; and a host of grandchildren; relatives; and friends.
