Life’s Reflection

Deacon James Earl Henderson departed on May 16, 2016 at 11:03 A.M.  He was born on December 15, 1937 in Terrell, Texas.

He passed at home in Kansas City, Kansas.  He was one of ten children born to the union of Turner and Lula Henderson, who preceded him in death.

He has one living Aunt Lillie Marie White of Terrell, Texas.

On August 17, 1957 he married the love of his life Emma Jean Walker Henderson to this union five children were born.

He retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years of service.

He was ordained as a Deacon on July 20, 1969.  He served in various auxiliaries of the church, such as Superintendent of Sunday School, Teacher, Choir Member, New Members Counselor, Sunday School Nominating Ministry, and Bible Study.

Deacon James has been a loyal and faithful servant at Oak Ridge since the 70’s. He attended Jarvis Christian College for two years.

His favorite sayings, “Succeed in Spite of . . .” “Don’t Fail Because of”, “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” “Proverb 22:6 “We are confident”, I say and willing rather to be Absent from the body and present with the Lord”- 2 Corinthians 5:8.

Deacon James Henderson leaves to cherish his loving memories; his beautiful wife, Emma J. Henderson of the home;  Bernon James Henderson of Kansas City, Kansas, Irwin Dewayne Henderson of Emporia, KS; Evelyn Deloris Jones (John), Janelta Henderson, Karron Duane Henderson (Christine) all of Kansas City, Kansas; (5) grandchildren, Adrian Maddox, Karron D. Henderson, Jr., Benjamin J. Henderson and Cherelle M. Henderson all of Kansas City, Kansas and Janee V. Henderson of Houston, Texas; (6) great grandchildren and a host of adopted grandchildren and great grands, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He has (5) brothers and (5) sisters; Gloria Black of Phoenix, Arizona, Gladys Davis of Dallas, Texas, Charles Henderson (LaVonne); Shirley Jones (Russell), Ella Mae Wilson, Clezell Henderson (Zephyr) all of Terrell, Texas, Al Ray Henderson (Nellie) of Alexandria, Virginia, Donald Wayne Henderson (Renee), Jessie Lee Henderson (Ora), Freddie Mae Estes all of Dallas, Texas a host of other relatives and friends.
