Howard was the oldest son of Howard N. Kinney Sr. & Oweda G. Kinney. He was born at St. Margaret's Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Benjamin Banneker Elementary, Lincoln Middle & Southeast High Schools. He obtained his Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees at UCLA in Southern California. He relocated to Los Angeles, California after holding positions at Crown Center, Western Missouri Mental Health Center and KPRS. In California, he resided in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco. He was also employed as a youth counselor for children with special needs at the Child Psychiatry Clinic in West Los Angeles.
He is survived by his mother; Oweda Kinney Crutchfield, stepfather; Richard Crutchfield, brothers; Robert Kinney (Janice), Christian D. Kinney (Rosetta), James P. Kinney (Roma), Courtney Kinney, and Torrie Kinney (Michael). His twin sons; Dartanion (Marta) and Zachary (Irene) Morrison, eight grandchildren; Christopher, Devin, Daniel, Zachariah, Caleb, Moses, Aaron, and Ariana. Aunts; Irene M. Crawford of Minneapolis, MN, Martha M. Davis of Blue Springs, MO, Special cousins; Vallarie A. Bly of Kansas City, KS, Dorothy H. Mozee of Grandview, MO, and Marva A. Sowell of Kansas City, MO, Beverly Robinson, Sharon Wooten, and Carolyn Elmore all of Kansas City, KS and Shirley Nelson of Marietta, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father; Howard N. Kinney Sr. brother; Charles N. Kinney and grandmother; Loria L. Worten.
