Gwendolyn Elaine Wilson, affectionately known as “Ladybug” was born August 11, 1951. She was preceded in death by one son, Vergal Clemmons III; her mother, Elzira Demon and William Wilson, Sr.; three brothers; Frank Wooten, Jr., Glenn Wooten and Williams Wilson, Jr.;a sister, Claretta Wilson and three nephews; Rameon Wilson, John and Marion Nunn.
Gwendolyn was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas Public School System. She graduated from Sumner High School with the “Class of 1969”. She had an extensive employment history in nursing which included Manor Place, Wyandotte County Retention Center and private duty nursing. She was employed at Hilton Garden Hotel in hospitality where she retired.
Gwendolyn will always be remembered as a devoted and sensational grandmother to all her grandchildren. She also loved caring for her patients, the elderly and the shut-ins. It few of her hobbies included crocheting, cooking, cross word puzzles. Listening to old school music and gardening. She had a green thumb when it came to growing and nurturing plants.
Gwendolyn leaves to cherish her memory one son, Rodney Porter, Jr., a life-time companion, Rodney Porter, Sr.; two sisters, Willa Nunn and Elizabeth Wilson; two sisters, Willa Nunn and Elizabeth Wilson; two brothers, Larry Wilson and Gregory Wilson; 3 grandchildren; Toyleigha and Keiyona Clemmons and Rodney “Kuda” Lee Porter III; great grandchildren; Jaylen, Tatiana and Xavier; a daughter in-law Turri Hall; a special niece and nephew, Alicia and Danny Wilson; a host of other relatives and friends.
