Everett’s Life Reflections

Everett James Greenlaw was born February 8, 1990 in Kansas City, MO through the loving union of James Everett Greenlaw and Sheila Ann Tillmon.  He and his siblings, Kristen Lynn May, James Floyd May, II, and Elijah Malcolm Greenlaw were raised with God, family, friends and abundant love as major influences over their lives.

Everett attended schools in the Kansas City and graduated from Blue Springs High School in 2008, where his love of sports, particularly basketball, made him a stand-out on the court. He briefly attended The University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS before a chronic illness forced him to withdraw and return home. Having been medically diagnosed with Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome (CVS) at 17, his time here on Earth was interrupted and incomplete, even until his passing, but Everett found ways to bless, enrich, and stay connected to those he loved and enjoyed spending time with. Everett’s SMILE could light up any room or lighten any burden, and he was passionate about Music and Dancing, including playing the drums, and often entertained his family and the general public with his talents and incredible sense of humor.

Everett or “Deuce” as he was proudly dubbed by his father. He adored his Sissy "Kristen", his brothers Jamesey and Elijah, his grandmothers Mimi and Granny, his Aunts Rosalind, Carla, Nancy, Leah, and Karen, and his uncles Ronnie, Cedric, and Tony.  He also had a very, very special bond with his parents, which surpasses this life.  Everett was raised with cousins Ryan Tillmon, Leanne Murray, Karl Murray, Aaron Branch, Dominique Fells who were more like siblings. The cousins often felt incomplete unless they were all together, and social media allowed Everett to pass on his thoughts, ideas and jokes, as well as his messages of love and support, even when he was too ill to attend family functions.

The complete JOY of his life, his daughter Miyah Ann Greenlaw was born to Everett and Alexandra Findley on December 14, 2014, and that’s when he knew "His Purpose in Life" was to love that precious Baby Girl into eternity.

Everett was also blessed to surround himself with life-long, loving friends, who he considered his brothers for life Xavier, Justin, Jace, Jamare, Jeremy, Dylan, A-Ray, Woody, and several special others, whom he counseled, coached, and leaned on for the same "I am My Brother’s Keeper”.

Everett was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Fannie Mae Walker; Clara Mae Terry; and Eglantine Tolson -Tillmon; his great-grandfather, James Arthur Walker; his grandfathers James Everett Greenlaw, Sr.; and Ronald Elias Tillmon, Sr.; grandmother, Carlotta LaVonne Greenlaw; great uncles James A. Walker, Jr.; and Robert H. Walker; his aunt, Rosalind Matthews; and uncle Carl Fells.

Everett leaves to sustain and cherish his memory his daughter, Miyah Ann Greenlaw; parents, James Everett Greenlaw, Jr.; and Sheila Ann Tillmon (My Ever…Forever & Ever); siblings, Kristen Lynn May; James Floyd May, II; and Elijah Malcolm Greenlaw; loving grandmother, Nancy Ann Tillmon; god-mother, Angela Long; and too many other wonderful cousins, aunts, uncles, and precious friends.
