2 Timothy 4:7-8 King James Version (KJV) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Evelyn Marie “Bidly” Guess Nichols, 91, of Kansas City, Kansas went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 7, 2016.
Evelyn was born on May 4, 1925 in Hugo, Oklahoma to the union of Jimmie and Estella (Dangerfield) Guess. She was the second eldest of twelve children. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Martin; Manuel; and Richmond; five sisters, Rhoda Mae; Veda; Bertha; Juanita; and Wanda Faye; her husbands, Edward Jackson, II; and Charles Nichols; her son, Ralph L. Jackson.
Evelyn confessed her faith in Christ at a young age and was a faithful member at Salem Baptist Church until she was called home to be with the Lord. She received and completed her formal education in the Oklahoma School District. A strong belief of hers was being a hard and dedicated worker; she was employed with Hercules Powder Plant and retired from General Motors after eighteen years of service. With a heart of gold, Evelyn never met a stranger and she loved the Lord, which was evident in her service to others. She was a faithful and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She could be found feeding and sheltering the homeless as well as providing clothes, transportation, supporting financially, and visiting the sick and shut in. During her past time she could be found cleaning and sweeping her yard and others. She was a faithful city worker and believed in a clean community. Evelyn certainly had a sense for fashion, spending time having her fancy hats hand made to coordinate with her suits. She also had an eye for big fancy cars and was well known for her delicious chicken and dressing and various fruit cobblers.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her homegoing four children, Edward L. Jackson, III; Sharon K. Duvernay; Floyd Jackson; and Ronald Guess; 13 grandchildren, Tijuana Jackson Rudolph (Todd); Tony Jackson (Katrena); Edward and Edwin Jackson; Rhonda; Jasmine; Jeremy Guess; Jaquita Jackson; Isaac Anderson (Christel); Dayon Anderson (Danielle); Lawren Duvernay; Anthony Powell; and Tammy Barker (Bryan); twenty-six great grandchildren; and two great- great grandchildren; one sister, Fay Etta Watts of Wewoka, Oklahoma; and two brothers, Calvin Guess (Vidalia) of Prague, Oklahoma; Larry Guess (Jerena) of Sasakwa, Oklahoma; along with numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins, the beloved Dangerfield and Guess families and a host of dear friends.
