Precious Life's Portrait

Eula Lee Mitchell Richmond, 89, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was born July 18, 1926, in Helena, Arkansas, to Everlene Bibbs and Charlie Mitchell.  At an early age, she and her two brothers were separated following the death of their mother, and she was reared by an aunt in Itta Bena, Mississippi.

There she received her early education, accepted Christ, and worked on a Mississippi cotton farm.

She united in marriage to Charles W. Richmond, Sr. and later relocated in 1948 to Kansas City, Kansas where she continued her education and was employed in various positions.  Her work experiences included Armour Packing Company, KU Medical Center Laundry, and Kansas City area Domestic and Restaurant work.

She united with First Baptist Church with its nurturing Christian education and spiritual development ministry, then led all her eight children who were baptized under the pastorate of Rev. E. A. Freeman. For her children she was a supportive school parent and greatly inspired her family in their pursuit of educational excellence. She became a proud homeowner in 1969 living in the same house and being a loving neighbor to all until her transition.  A life-long learner, Mother Richmond, was an avid reader, which was demonstrated by her continuous subscriptions to three newspapers, which she thoroughly read daily, as well as several magazines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Kathleen and Margie Lou; great grand twin newborns, Noah and Angel; and former husband, Charles Richmond, Sr.

Although her passing will leave a huge void, vivid memories of her life will live on in the hearts of her children:  Valera Jean; Brenda Marie; Charles William, Jr.; Idalene (William, Jr.); Rodney Felix; Darnell Michael; Anthony Marcellus; and Kasey Erskine (Yvonne); grandchildren:  Arnett Andrew; Indea Ja'Net; William, III (Joyce); Jamise Janee'; Jenna Marie; Neya Desiree'; Darrien Jamahl; Denzel Juwan; and Deon Jordan;  great grandchildren: Edward Lee; Ocean Elise; Julia Emily; William, IV; and James Nathaniel; former sister-in-law, Gladys Hodges; other relatives and friends.
