Our Beloved Patriarch of the Lewis Family
Mr. Eddie Lewis, Jr. was called home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on June 23, 2016. He will be greatly missed. Born to Eddie and Mary Jane Kelly Lewis on February 9, 1919.
They farmed and raised eight children. Sam, Thom, Hardy, Blanche, Gertrude, Katherine and Virginia, Eddie being the first born.
They all preceded him passing on. He was very protective of them.
Eddie was baptized in the church his grandfather founded in 1857. It is the Christian Home Baptist Church, Vicksburg, Mississippi, at age of twelve. This church was acknowledged as a national monument in 2004. It remains to be taking care of by his great niece and nephew.
He later joined the Eighth Baptist Church on January 8, 1956 and he was a 60 year member. He served in Sunday School Ministry and sang in the Male Chorus.
Eddie was an avid gardener, fisherman and mechanic...
Eddie joined the Army at 21, having an innate gift of fixing things, especially automobiles. He became Sergeant in the motor pool, his men respected his leadership in the World War II Campaign.

He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Mother Willa Marsha Morrison, Vanessa Morrison, Mignon and Anthony Johnson, James and Nancy Garrett, Vernon Johnson, Jr., Marjorie Lewis Wilson and Damon Lewis a lifetime of love and leadership, touching so many lives.
