Dorothy Emogene (Small) Davis
Dorothy was born on July 16, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the oldest child born to Carlton Small and Thelma (Harris) Small. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ronelle Small; and William J. Francis; three sisters, Norene (Small) Southall; Rosetta (Small) Thomas; and Willa (Francis) Hill; two sons, Darthell Davis; and Andrew Davis, Jr.; a granddaughter, Andrea Davis; and five great-grandchildren. She was blessed with five children, during her marriage to Andrew Davis, Sr.
She received her education at Kealing and Stowe Elementary Schools, Northeast Junior and Sumner High Schools. Dorothy was employed by Wyandotte County Government and El Centro, Inc. of Kansas City, Kansas as a phone pal, assisting senior citizens. She was baptized at an early age at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church, prior to joining Greystone Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her health started to fail.
Dorothy had a loving, kind spirit and always looked for the best in people. She was affectionately called "Grandmuddy" by her grandchildren. She loved her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved completing crosswords puzzles, watching Royals baseball and daytime soap operas.
She loved laughing with her sisters and looked forward to the annual Mother's Day Sunday celebration brunch with her sisters, daughter, nieces, great-nieces and granddaughters.
She will be missed by her loving family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Adrian Davis (Linda) of Overland Park, Kansas; Darryl Davis of North Hollywood, California; daughter, Annzetta M. Davis; Kansas City, Kansas; sisters, Marilyn Lindsey; and Jennie Francis; both of Kansas City, Kansas; 11 grandsons; 6 granddaughters; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
