Life‘s Reflections

DeAndrei “Dre” Duvall Byers., was born to Cynthia Flint-Ware and Andre Byers on November 30, 1987.  He was considered the ‘Baby”, being the fourth and last child born among his siblings.  DeAndrei was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas.  He attended Welborn Elementary, Coronado Middle School, and Washington High School.  He was sorrowful to learn at an early age that his Asthma was chronic and it would hinder him for participating in vigorous sports that he loved so much, and gainful employment. DeAndrei was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Pastor C. L. Bachus.

The joy of Andrei’s life was the birth of his daughter, Draya Byers, born on January 20, 2011.  She brought new meaning to his life; his struggle with Asthma became more purposeful.  Draya became the twinkle in his eyes.  He delighted talking about Draya and sharing her pictures with family and friends.  DeAndrei was excited about his daughter’s first day of Kindergarten, as he looked forward to escorting his little girl to school on her first day.  God granted this opportunity before calling DeAndrei home.  Father and daughter walked happily hand-in-hand, stopping momentarily to capture the moment on camera inside her classroom.

DeAndrei was loved by many.  To be in his company brought lots of laughs and hugs.  He had a loving, gentle spirit that was celebrated by all.  He loved the institution of “Family”; he displayed it proudly in a tattoo on his arm.  The tattoo was: “Family First”.

DeAndrei was in a lifelong battle with asthma.  He fought long and hard to get oxygen to his lungs.  He lost his fight on Sunday, August 23, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his Material grandfather, Joe Flint

DeAndrei leaves to mourn; a daughter, Draya; his mother, Cynthia Flint-Ware; his father, Andre Byers; brothers, Gary Ware; Dominicque Byers; and Jermelle Byers, Sr.; sister, Taliece Ware; maternal grandparents; Jessie and Flossie Roper; Paternal grandparents; Rosie McDaniel; Burnell and Ruby Canady; nieces; Dayisa Byers; Shemell Byers; nephews, Alonzo Ware; Avion Redic; Amari Ware; Jermelle Byers, II; Demori Byers; and extensive list of family and friends.
