Life’s Reflection

A time to be born: David Samuel Tucker, 50, passed away on April 5, 2016. He was born on June 2, 1965 in Kansas City, Kansas to Robert and Mabel Lane Tucker. David was the youngest of three sons born to this union. David was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mabel Tucker, and brother-in-law, Mark Durham.

A time to plant: David grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas in 1983. While in high school, David was an active member of Jazz Band, Concert Band, Marching Band, and Symphonic Band.  After high school he joined the United States Army in 1983 and served for four years as a combat medic after completing training at Fort Sam Houston Military Medical Training Center.

David owned and operated a moving and delivery business for several years and went on to work as a contractor for Staples Inc. and Sears.

David accepted Christ at a young age and around that time also developed a great love for music and playing the guitar and drums. Growing up in Kansas City, Kansas, David enjoyed traveling around the city and surrounding areas with his father, playing for church meetings and revivals. Like his Bible namesake, David at his core had a deep love for praise and worship. He played with several gospel bands based in Kansas City and then later on with his wife Anna as guests leading and assisting with praise and worship for churches around Kansas City. Even when visiting a church for fellowship, David always had his guitar in tow, ready to assist if needed.

A time to love: David S. Tucker married Anna Marie Childs in 2006 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married for 10 years. David was a member of World Revival Church. He immensely enjoyed music and the simple things in life that involved lovingly raising his daughters. It was not uncommon for David to give impromptu guitar lessons to neighborhood children and friends of his younger daughters.  In his free time, David enjoyed volunteering for the Wilhelmina Gill Services Center, Good Shepard United Methodist Church, and food drives for families in need.

A time to mourn: David S. Tucker departed this life and entered into eternal glory on April 5, 2016. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife, Anna Tucker of Lubbock, Texas; his daughters, Chrystal; Natalie; and Ava of Kansas City, Kansas; his granddaughter Jayla Tucker; his brothers, Robert L. Tucker, Jr.; and Richard L. Tucker, Sr. (Gwendolyn); three nephews, Richard L. Tucker Jr.; James Aaron Tucker; and William S. Tucker all from Kansas City, Kansas. His family in love, Father in-law, Claude Childs Jr.; Brother and Sisters in-law, Claude Childs, III; Michelle S. Bluitt; Jessica J. Childs; and Rebekah Childs. Nieces and Nephews, Jeremiah Childs; Kenneth Childs; Caleb Childs; Nathaniel Williams; Madison Williams; and Makayla Williams.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The House of Hope and Healing, 9900 View High Drive, Kansas City MO 64134.
