Life’s Reflections

Brandon O’Keefe Jackson, was called home on July 16, 2015, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, at the age of 43.  He was born on November 27, 1971 to James R. Jackson and Doris J. Raglon (Jackson).

In 1985, Brandon accepted Christ at an early age by confessing to give his life to Christ on February 24, and was later baptized on March 3.  He then re-dedicated his life to Christ on April 24, 2011, and was again baptized on May 1, 2011 at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church.

In his early years he served as a Junior Usher and presently served as a Deacon in training.  During his journey with Christ, Brandon sought to mentor young men of the church and within the community.  In the recent years, he had grown very close to the Lord and would express it through witnessing and praying for and with others.

Brandon Jackson grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Washington High School in 1990.  He continued his education by attending Kansas City Kansas Community College.  In 1992, he received his diploma from “LA Baron Hairdressing Academy; and started his career as a self-employed barber.  In August of 1998, Brandon was diagnosed with kidney failure. Despite his health issues Brandon trusted God, and continued to live his life as God seen for him to do.  For his hard work and efforts in 2004, he was awarded the Foley Belsaw Institute Award, for “Scissors & Clipper Blades.” Later, he received his HVAC Certification from Thomas Burke Technical School in 2014.

Brandon married his wife Shaunte Cherelle Garlington in November 2008.  They were happily married for seven years.  Brandon enjoyed spending quality time with his family.  He was an awesome husband, father, brother, and son.  He was a “Jack of All Trade.”  He was a family mechanic, he loved fishing, and all sports, especially basketball!

Brandon was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Willie E. Jackson; and Roosevelt Raglon, Sr.; his grandmother, Flora Raglon; and his Aunt Eloise Cook.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife of seven years, Shaunte Jackson; his sons, Jarriell Jackson; and D’Adrian Jones both of Kansas City, KS; his daughters, Jahlissa Jackson of Dallas, Texas; Armani Jackson of Kansas City, KS; his granddaughter, Elaine Moreno Jones of Kansas City, KS;  his parents, James and Doris Jackson of Kansas City, KS; his sisters, Deona and Kourtney Jackson both of Kansas City, KS; his grandmother, Josephine Jackson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
