Life’s Reflections for
Augusta White
Augusta departed this life on September 5, 2016 at her home.
She has joined her son, Ray A. White; both parents, Walter and Lydia Knox Williams; brothers: James Williams, Alvertis Williams, Willie Williams, and Nathaniel Williams; and sisters: Letha Dell Williams Herd, Delesso Williams and Mattie Bell Smith, who proceeded her in death.
Augusta was born on December 14, 1934 in Marianna, Arkansas to Walter and Lydia Knox Williams. She was one of 8 children. Augusta was educated in the public schools of Marianna, where she lived until moving to the Kansas City area.
After moving to Kansas City, she met and married James Cordell White. Together they raised one son, Ray Anthony White. Augusta was a hard worker and an entrepreneur. She loved to travel; whether on the road or taking to the skies. She worked for Trans World Airlines (TWA) until retiring in 2000. Augusta never fully retired, once she left TWA she began working full time for herself. Anyone who knew her, knew she was always working.
Augusta confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of the Guiding Star Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Heart of America Sisterhood until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish her memories her granddaughter, LaChandra Smith, her grandson-in-law Tramaine Smith, great grandchildren: Mishan Pauley, Tre Pauley, Shaimae Smith, and Tramaine Smith II; special friend: Elehue Stennis; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
