Precious Memories

Of

Annette Beatrice Bentley

Annette Beatrice Bentley, affectionately known as “Mama,” "Granny," or "Ann," to her family and friends was born on September 5, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas.  She was the oldest of four children born to Edward and Laura Jean Hamilton who both preceded her in death.  One sister Mary Lou, one brother Edward "Dumplings", and one daughter Tanya Denise also preceded her in death.

Annette received her formal education in Kansas City, Kansas where she attended Sumner High School.  In her youth, she found comfort and peace by reading books and writing poems.  She won several poetry contests and some of her poems appeared in the local newspaper for her acclaimed poetic skills.  She passed this tremendous love of reading and writing to her children and grandchildren.

Anne has always believed in God Almighty having read the Bible several times over the course of her life. Her spiritual walk was nontraditional and unorthodox, yet she would tell you unapologetically in a heartbeat that she loved the Lord her Father!  Even though she practiced her own form of worship, devotion, and meditation, she was a Christian and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  Anyone who knew her would proclaim that she exuded Christ's forgiving, loving and redeeming qualities her entire life.

Though Anne was beautiful she was also very wise, highly intelligent and commonly known as a no-nonsense woman of conscience. Family was Annette’s center of gravity.  Her life revolved around children and grandchildren.  Her family and friends gave her so much joy.  Annette was a triple threat in life:  beautiful in spirit and presence, wise in life, and love for all!  When you were with her, you felt like you were the only one in the room and you felt like her favorite. That was the "Annette affect" that helped you make it through tough times and situations.   Quiet and Stoic when Anne she spoke, she made it count.  Her home was a place of solace in good times and bad.  She also expressed the importance of knowing your past, but focusing on your future.

In beloved memory she leaves to carry on her legacy: Three daughters Yolanda Girli Jean Gee "Londie" of Kansas City, Kansas, Carmelita Wyatt of Marietta, Georgia, and Annette Beatrice Hamilton "Baby" of Kansas City, Kansas.  One beloved son Floyd Bentley Sr.  "Little Man" (Gayle) of Kansas City, Kansas. One brother David Hamilton of Boston, Massachusetts. One Cousin Jackqulin. She also leaves twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Special thanks to her friend Ms. Beverly, as well as all of her friends at Delaware Assisted Living along with a host of family and friends that are too many to name.
